General Questions

TLC Childcare Center strives to provide a quality Early Childhood Education Program filled with carefully chosen staff members, filled with love and compassion for children. We believe that children are our most important resource and that their early childhood experiences are crucial in the development of their future. Each staff member strives to offer an environment that is high in quality and stimulates the child’s senses and where warmth and friendship are abundant, to meet the needs of the total development of the child. The program we pursue is geared toward helping the child develop habits of observation, questioning and listening while building a positive self-esteem. Our staff members are partners with our parents working together to meet both the needs of the children and their families.

TLC Childcare Center succeeds by delivering outstanding performance and customer service.

Tender Loving Care follows the professional standards of behavior management, which includes but is also not limited to the following restrictions:

1. No corporal punishment, cruel and severe punishment, humiliation, or verbal abuse

2. No denial of food for punishment
3. No punishment for soiling, wetting, or not using the toilet.
4. A child will never be forced to eat.

5. A child will never be denied outside time as punishment.

6. A child will never be in a crib, highchair, table, swing, or exercisers in lei of supervision.

7. We will set clear and simple limits.
8. We will allow a child that is involved in a

temper tantrum to do so free from objects that may harm them, without physical intervention from a teacher. A teacher will remain near the child trying to calm and sooth the child until the tantrum has passed.

9. We will be aware of our tone, body language and facial expressions when speaking to a child, being kind yet firm.

10. We will recognize the children’s feelings and stress the use of words to resolve conflicts that the children may have. We will model different responses for the children.

11. We will praise and model appropriate behavior and give them the choices of appropriate behaviors, divert, or distract inappropriate behavior and offer one on one assistance to a child having a problem and remove a child when necessary and quietly and privately discuss what they need to do to rejoin the group.

12. We will give “Time Outs” when appropriate. The time will not exceed 1 minute per year of the child’s age, maxing out at 4 minutes.

Tender Loving Care wants to meet each child’s individual needs. Help them feel safe, secure and loved in our environment. We want each child to develop strong self-esteem and independence.

Enrollment, Tuition & Absentee Questions

TLC recommends setting up a tour and calling/emailing our current families to assure we fit your family’s needs. Once you are ready to enroll, please submit a completed enrollment form and a one-month deposit to secure your childcare. This deposit is applied to your last month at the center.
Tuition depends on your child’s age. Families pay tuition on our Procare system.
Families are allowed one week vacation a year, after attending TLC for six months. Vacations must be Monday-Friday of the same week. Vacations can not be applied to a families last month at the center.

No tuition credit is given for absences. Full tuition is due regardless of how many days the child is at the center during any given week. (Holidays, illnesses, vacations other than the one week per year, etc.)

TLC requires written or email (margaretcaloretlc@gmail.com) notice one month prior to a child’s departure from the center. This notice must be received on the first day of the month. Should you give notice after that date, the notice will be post-dated to the following month. The last month’s tuition will be taken out of the deposit. Any family withdrawing a child without proper notice will be subject to the loss of deposit.

Full tuition is due for all TLC holidays.

Daily Procedure Questions

We have an open door policy, parents are able to pick up at anytime.

Things your INFANT will need:

  • Application
  • Enrollment packet and enrollment in Procare
  • Bottles for the day. Pre-made with water only, teachers will add the formula you provide (label with name). Bottles are served at room temperature. Please label bottles. Infants are fed at least every 3 hours.
  • Any food your infant will need for the day. You can communicate your child’s eating schedule to the teacher when you come in.
  • A pack-and-play-size fitted sheet. Tender Loving Care suggests that all families use a brand called Garanimals. You can find this brand on Amazon or at Walmart.
  • 2 sleep sacks. Per state regulations, blankets and small “Lovey” blankets are not permitted
  • Diapers and wipes for the week
  • Sunblock (6 months and older)
  • 3 changes of clothes
  • Bibs
  • Toothbrush. If you don’t want your child brushing their teeth at school, you must sign a waiver, including infants eating meals.

Please make sure:
1. Your child’s name is on ALL of their belongings.
2. Bibs and bottles are to be brought home daily.
3. Sheets and blankets are brought home every Friday, or the last day of the week that your child attends Tender Loving Care.

Things your TODDLER/PRESCHOOLER will need:

  • Application
  • Enrollment packet and enrollment in Procare
  • 3 sippy cups with milk/water. Tender Loving Care refills water cups
  • Snacks and Lunch: We provide lunch at $3.25 per day and dry snacks at no charge, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Please be aware that we are a PEANUT-FREE school.
  • A fitted crib sheet
  • Diapers and wipes, if not potty trained
  • Sunblock
  • A change of clothes, that are seasonally appropriate
  • Toothbrush. If you don’t want your child brushing their teeth at school, you must sign a waiver.

Please make sure:
1. Your child’s name is on ALL of their belongings.
2. Sippy cups are to be brought home daily.
3. Sheets and blankets are brought home every Friday, or the last day of the week that your child attends Tender Loving Care.

*All children must have a physical within a year and be current on immunizations before enrollment.*

We provide lunch at $3.25 per day, and dry snacks at no charge, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Please be aware that we are a PEANUT FREE school.

TLC offers a learning curriculum daily. Staff members engage the children in yoga, cooking, and basketball weekly. We have the music man and happy feet join the center weekly. These activities are based on the age group.
TLC offers seasonal family gatherings.

We love outdoor time! Most classrooms will go outside twice a day.

We normally close when there is a snow emergency. We will always email/post on Facebook and let all families know.

Health & Security Questions

  1. Children sent home from the center must stay home the next day.
  2. Temperature: A child with a temperature of over 101 degrees must stay home fever free (without the aid of fever reducers) for 24 hours. A child will be sent home, with a fever over 101.
  3. Strep throat: A child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to the center.
  4. Diarrhea or vomiting: A child with these symptoms must stay home until normal activity level is back and diarrhea and vomiting have stopped. A child will be sent home from the center after he/she vomits once or has two uncontained diarrheas.
  5. Pin worms, ring worms, head lice, scabies: Children can return to the center after one treatment, in no less than a 24 hour period.
  6. Ear or eye infections: A child can return to the center after being on antibiotics for 24 hours. A child on medication and running a fever cannot stay in school and will be sent home.
  7. Impetigo, conjunctivitis, scarlet fever, hand foot mouth, chickenpox: A child with these illnesses may return to the center with a doctor’s note.

To keep the center healthy and safe, we ask for the cooperation and understanding of every parent. Please keep children home when they are contagious or not feeling well. This will help insure the health and comfort of all children and staff at the center.

Administration of Medication is acceptable for non-prescription medicine; however, parental instruction and a note from a pediatrician is required. TLC will administer prescription medication with parental instruction if the name of the child is on the bottle. Must be the prescription label on medication.

All children with allergies must have an individual health care plan from their doctor. All children with allergies must have an individual health care plan from their doctor. Parents must supply all medication listed on the plan and leave it at the center at all times.

If we had an emergency, the child or staff member would be transported to the nearest hospital.

All staff are First Aid/CPR trained. The following background checks are required for all staff members: Massachusetts Criminal Offense Record Information (CORI) check; Department of Children and Families (DCF) check; Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI) check; and a State/National Fingerprint-based Criminal Information (fingerprint) check.

Our doors have a code that needs to be punched in for anyone to access the building. Our cameras need a username and password to see the classrooms.
